I am an iranian who reads your blog. I have a question which is not related to this post but since in one of your posts I realized that you have got your permanent residency through working in US I am asking you for help. I am an iranian currently on work visa who have missed his country so much...:(:(:(...I really don't know who to ask that usually how much does it take for an iranian to get permanent residency after their company applies for them... I am so desperate....
Is the process time the same for an Iranian male and female or does it differ?

Hi Nashenas,
to be able to travel abroad you do not need to wait for the green card. When you file for I-485 (usually after the PERM is approved) you can also file for advance parole, which is simply a travel permission. it usually takes three months for the advance parole to get approved (or at least it used to be around that time. You use advance parole to travel to Iran. That is what we did last year. Email me so we can discuss this in more details.
